IT'S NOT ENOUGH TO BE ON FACEBOOK. HERE'S WHY:
If you want people at your tables, they need to know where you are and when you're open. This is fundamental information your website should announce, and it should be shared with Google for easy access on mobile devices.
Showcase The Dining Experience
Diners don't come to you just to eat. They come to socialize, celebrate, and be around other people. Your website shows off your atmosphere, and gives potential customers a peek at what it's like to be there.
Advertise Your Items
Most local restaurant websites need modern menus that are easy to update. With an advanced site, you can promote individual dishes and specials. You can share them on social media, or make them searchable on Google.
If you serve dine-in, carry-out, and/or delivery, your website should enable online ordering. With the same software, I can include online shopping for your non-food merchandise.
Booking And Events
Do you host live entertainment? Special events? Large group reservations? If so, your website should have a calendar announcing these things, as well as an online form for booking.

ABOUT WEB DESIGN
There's a lot to think about when making a website. It needs to be optimized for search engines. It needs to be easy to navigate. It needs to convert visitors into customers.
Web professionals make it their business to know these things. While other folks are watching "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia," I'm watching tech news and reading industry blogs. I care about this stuff because I care about entrepreneurship.
